BANSTEAD ATHLETIC
FOOTBALL CLUB

Banstead Athletic Football Club was founded in 1944 as Banstead Juniors and adopted its current name during the 1946–47 season. That first season proved to be pivotal, as we secured the Surrey Intermediate Cup. Following this success, we clinched back-to-back league titles, allowing us to advance to the Surrey Senior League in 1949.

Our early years were marked by domination, winning the Surrey Senior League title four consecutive times from 1950 to 1954, with Harry Clark netting an astonishing 81 goals in just 26 matches in the 1950-51 season.

The team continued to excel, finishing as runners-up in the subsequent two seasons before claiming our fifth title in 1956-57. In the 1964-65 season, we added another league title to our achievements, which led us to join the Spartan League. The merger of the Spartan League and Metropolitan–London League in 1975 saw us compete in the newly formed London Spartan League, where we became founder members of Division One.

FA Cup History

As a non-league football club, we have reached the Third Preliminary Qualifying Round of the FA Cup two times, in the 1981-82 season, and in 2000-01.

FA Vase History

Banstead Athletic FC has also made a significant impact in the FA Vase, with several notable performances:

1992-93: Reached quarter-finals, before a narrow defeat to Bridlington Town
1996-97: Reached the semi-finals, before narrowly losing over two legs to Whitby Town.

The FA Vase has been a superb platform over the years for our club to demonstrate our commitment to non-league football and our dedication to achieving excellence on the pitch.
